“We have had many inquiries from local residents who may not be able to attend the funeral services of Retired Sheriff Barry Hillestad. Fiksdal Funeral Servicewill be live-streaming the funeral on their Facebook page as an opportunity for those who can not attend.
After the funeral has concluded, there will be a Law Enforcement procession that will escort Sheriff Hillestad to his final resting place at Lake Campbell Cemetery in Volga, SD.
If the public chooses to line up along Highway 12 to pay final respects as the procession passes through Webster and Waubay along Highway 12, the Day County Sheriff’s Office asks that participants please do so in a safe manner along US Highway 12. With the funeral service beginning at 10:30 am, we would project the procession leaving Webster around 11:45 am.
We have also just received word that KXLG Radio will be doing a tribute at the start of the procession. Please turn your radio dials to 99.1 FM Monday morning as KXLG Radio honors Barry Hillestad.”
